Give Me Words to Speak by Aaron Shust

If you've never heard the song, you can hear it here:  Give Me Words to Speak

Lately, every time I hear this song I cry.  It's been my prayer.  My friend is dying.  Her doctors say she only has a few months to live.  She's younger than I am.  Her son is my son's best friend.  Our boys are 8.  How, why?  I hate that C-word!

Oddly enough I don't pray for her healing.  I pray for her salvation.  I want to see her again.  Her eyes are this see through blue, eyes like I've never seen before, just stunning...and her smile, oh that smile, it's powerful enough to light up any room.  Demi Moore has NOTHING on my friend, when she shaved her head due to the chemo, it only accentuated how amazingly gorgeous she is...if we could all be so blessed.

I know that if she knows Jesus she will be healed.  It may be here on earth, it may be in heaven, but knowing Him is the only way.

So yes Lord, "Give me words to speak!"  Give me the words that she will hear and understand and will draw her to You.  Go before me and open her heart.  Let all that I say and all that I do lead her to You.

Let the words of this song ring true in my ears and hers...

Calloused and bruised
dazed and confused
My Spirit is left wanting something more
Than my selfish hopes
and my selfish dreams
I'm lying with my face down to the floor
I'm crying out for more (crying out for more)

Aren't we all?  Every single one of us have an empty spot that only Jesus can fill.  We try to fill ourselves up with friends, games, good times, spouses, money, jobs, children, and all sorts of other selfish things that only leave our Spirit "wanting something more."

Give me Words to speak
Don't let my Spirit sleep
Cause I can't think of anything worth saying
But I know that I owe You my life
So give me Words to speak
Don't let my Spirit sleep

Lord, give me Your Words.  I know my friend is looking for You.  I know that the news that shocked her, didn't shock You.  Let her feel Your presence and Your peace.

Every night, every day
I find that I have nothing left to say
So I stand here in silence awaiting Your guidance
I'm wanting only Your voice to be heard
Let them be Your Words
Let them be Your words

Be my guide Lord!  Be hers.

I just don't understand this life that I've been living
I just don't understand (x2)
I just don't understand these lies I've been believing
I just don't understand (x2)

I can only imagine her confusion.  She dedicated her life to protecting our country, she has a son, she just got married, she wanted to have a baby...now this...she even said, "I didn't deserve this!"  We just don't understand.  All we can do is trust in You and know that you "work all things together for those who love you."  (Romans 8:28)

I know that I owe you my life
Owe my life
Owe my life
(x2)

Thank you Lord for loving us so much that you sent Your only Son to bare all our shame, sickness, and sins, that we may all have eternal life!  (John 3:16
